Life With Father

When you end up raising a house full of daughters, a father can find himself in a very precarious and oftentimes, disconcerting position, kinda like Daddy Brad here.

No matter how much or how hard he tries, (and he really does try), he just can't get used to seeing his little girls all grown up and having boyfriends.

Seemed to Brad like it was just yesterday that little Courtney shot out of the house like a cannonball aimed right at him as she tattled about her older sister Sheyenne kissing Harley "right on the mouth" while they were "wrestling" on the couch.

THAT was something he wished he'd NEVER seen with his own eyes, but he did, and in full living color, and now here was Courtney herself snuggling on that same couch with a guy, acting as though it was the most normal thing in the world.

And with a "Lothario" to boot!

This was the first time Brad had met Stefano Lothario, (Don's oldest son).

He knows Don, they're actually good friends, but he wasn't too excited to have his daughter so smitten with one of Don's offspring. Granted, Don put aside his women chasing ways quite a few years ago in favor of being a loyal and devoted husband/father and from what he was seeing from Stefano now, was a decent, well-mannered, intelligent and respectful young man, but it didn't matter.

To Brad, Courtney was just too young to be serious with any guy!

"Father and Boyfriend" met earlier that afternoon when Courtney brought Stefano home with her to celebrate her siblings birthdays. Jonah and Journey were teening up and twins, Kendra and Kirsten, were going from toddlers to kids - it was a big day and she was excited for Stefano to meet her family. Unfortunately Brianna couldn't make it because of having to work and Sheyenne and Harley were out of town pricing tractors, (long story there,...)

It didn't happen very often at the Simski house that she was the oldest of the kids for a family celebration like this and she liked it, especially the part about not having to share Stefano's attention with 2 older sisters!

Guess you could say her over-exuberance in having Stefano all to herself and being in the limelight of her family's special day stood out a little bit too much and it didn't take long before Brad began raining on her parade, serving her a volley of disapproving looks and gestures in regard to her and Stefano's couch cuddling.

Courtney knew if she didn't put a stop to it her dad would end up opposing her relationship with Stefano more than ever - and that was the LAST thing she wanted!

And no way did she want to end up going to war with her dad over the man she loved like Sheyenne ended up doing when it came to Harley.

THAT ended up being a horrible fiasco that caused riffs with everyone in the family and will no doubt go down in the Simski family history book as one of the worst father/daughter stand off's of all time!!!

Courtney didn't waste any time deciding -
there was no way she was going to go through the drama that Sheyenne did over some innocent, silly cuddles on the couch.

So, she did what she knew her dad would want her to do -
she got up and left them to each other on the couch and challenged her mom, (me), to a game of darts.

Brad to Stefano - "Wha? Why in the world did Courtney get up and leave like that?"

Stefano to Brad - "I dunno, I was hoping you could tell me."

MEN!!!!

So anyway. back to the subject of Jonah and Journey teening up!
Brad and Jonah formed quite the special bond as Jonah grew from Nooboo to Toddler to Kid.

Being the only boy and also being that Brad and my Simself were so excited and felt so blessed when we finally had a boy, I guess you could say that Jonah was crowned the proverbial Prince of the Simski house the moment Brad held him in his arms.
He wasn't spoiled, no, that was something Brad saved for his Little Princesses, (and his Queen of course), but Jonah does share a unique relationship with his dad that the girls don't. Brad and Jonah have a lot of things they do together that are just for the two of them. Jonah teening up is something they're both really stoked about - they dreamed up all kinds of plans for what father and son are going to go do out there in the world!

That morning while they ate their Birthday Breakfast, Jonah's favorite, blueberry blast pancakes, they had their heads together making plans for a hiking trip up to a secluded lake in the mountains that Brad's dad used to take him trout fishing when he was a teenager, (Jonah lives to fish!).

It was one of those "father/son"
moments that can make a mother/wife cry like a baby!

Journey and Jonah were THRILLED about becoming teenagers!
As close as Jonah is with his father he's also in real tight with his twin sister and as their mother who knows full well what kind of shenanigans they can conjure up, no doubt the Simski household is in for a wild ride!!

When it was time to age up everyone -
the toddlers went first.

Brad got the honors of bringing Kendra to the cake

TA DA!

Kid Kendra!

Then my Simself got the honors of bringing Kirsten to her cake!!

POOF!
Kid Kirsten!

The girls wanted a new look right away - they LOVE the color purple.

Then it was the moment that Journey and Jonah were waiting for -
they were about to enter into the exciting world of being a teenager!!

Journey was up first!!

BAM!

Teen Journey!!!

Then it was Jonah's turn
and it couldn't happen quick enough for him!!

WHAMO!

Teen Jonah!!

Everyone ended up having a great time!

Courtney and Journey were quick to band together and start a whole new sister connection as fellow teenagers!

Hunter came over to help celebrate with his kids, Hendrix and Joplin.
Jonah loves his "Uncle Hunter" and couldn't wait to tell him about the hiking/fishing trip that he and Brad are planning. Probably a good chance Hunter and Hendrix will end up going along with them.

This is Hunter's son, Hendrix.
He's very good friends with Jonah.

This is Joplin and she'll be teening up soon too -
and going to college when Journey and Jonah go.

I made a spaghetti dinner as requested and Journey and Jonah
arrived to the dinner table with new looks for themselves.
I think they both look great!

Yep, Daddy Brad has a brand new, sweet teenage daughter on the scene!!

Heeeeeeeeeere's Journey!!

Will Brad have what it takes to survive this one?
